Archery Class Training: SCORE
Outside DISTANCES are determined by rank student is working for. Know the rank you need.
15 meters is shortest rank earning distance using 122 cm faces for JOAD youth (ages 9-20 yrs)
30 Meters is shortest rank earning distance for SOAD adult (ages 18 and up) .
Indoor distances are either 9 or 18 meters, with either a 60 or 40 cm face.
New students, adult or youth, may use larger and closer distances as they are learning.

Each month, on the third weekend we score.
New students begin to learn the ins and outs of what each ring is worth, the power of the lines that edge the rings, and what arrows may help in a strategy to gain points . New archers learn how to keep score, and may keep the scorecards to have a log of their own progress. If students are a member of the Learn Archery & USA Archery JOAD/SOAD program, they can use this session to earn rank and pin awards. This continual "dry-run" makes scoring at an event more comfortable and into a no-brainer.
Youth are to learn how to do this, independent of parental supervision.

Archery Class Training: basic tuning continues, breathing, relax.
Distance shooting Saturday, weather permitting. Sunday looks like a washout, but check for set up around back.
At the Canton range.
Breathing should be as consistent as the other elements of your "process". Timing is a big part of the steps you are going through. If you take a deep breath and hold it, then pull back the bow string, you will find that you are "up in your chest" and loose the flat back and center core stability. The sight will jump and beat with your heart, making aiming challenging, and you may release the string prematurely because you simply can't hold your breath anymore. Breathing should be timed to bring air in as you open the bow, and slowly let about half of it out as you come to rest at full draw anchor. Practice this at home with a string or stretch band, and whenever possible, practice in front of a mirror so you can see the results of the changes you make in your body position.

TRAINING:Score
Saturday: Please arrive early to gear up & check in ( no later than 10:15 ).
first scoring arrow is at 10:30
Sunday: Please arrive early to gear up and check in.(no later than 3:15)
First scoring arrow is at 3:30.
Store closes at 5, and we must be packed up and out! Outdoor scoring takes longer as we shoot 36 arrows.
As we were closed August 16th and 17th this is our third weekend.

August 16th and 17th- NO CLASSES. Train while away from class with SPT's
Reminder-no classes this weekend Aug 16 & 17 as store has anniversary events planned.
Classes resume August 23rd.
When on vacation, or when not attending class, keep your skills up with the techniques we have been working on.
When on vacation, or when not attending class, keep your skills up with the techniques we have been working on.
- Do SPT's with your own bow.In front of a mirror, time yourself as you go through your form elements. Hold at anchor as long as your form stays proper, then let down. Rest for twice as long as you were in "hold" position. Do it again, again, again etc, and as you do you will have less and less time in perfect "hold" and then quit. Try again another day-building time as you go. (20 seconds held, 40 seconds rest; 12 seconds held- 24 seconds rest-etc)
- Film your shooting sequence and review.
- Use your stretch or string bands in front of a mirror
- Work with the paint bucket for draw hand release
- Go to the KSL International sight and review athletes form
- Work on your stance-mark a floor area with sting, tape etc and step away, then step to the foot position. then step back, and step to it again-repeat, repeat, etc.

Score

Each month, on the third weekend we score. As we were closed July 5 & 6, this is our third weekend.
