Training: Goals
As it is a new year it’s a great time to be thinking about what you want to accomplish as an archer. Some students are new and just know they want to shoot and find out about archery, the basics and variables in equipment, and have just begun to get a feel for the programs basic equipment.
More seasoned archers may have new equipment after the holidays, or have been shooting for a while with their own equipment or program equipment, and want to learn to “tune” their equipment, and refine specifics in their form..
In either setting, or any endeavor for that matter, if you can step into the future and look back at where you are today, you can set up a guide to get to that “future self”.
What do you see for yourself as an archer? Does a competition interest you? How does that look? What will it take to get there? Do you want to be able to shoot longer distances, or perhaps beat a score you earned previously. Maybe have better endurance while shooting, or understand your equipment better, and find ways to make it perform to its optimum ability. Perhaps find ways to draw out your own optimum ability as well. What kind of training and practice time are you able to invest in your “future self”?
This class will focus on goal setting strategies –what you put in, you get out.
New Changes in USA Archery JOAD/SOAD Club rules
USA Archery has implemented several new safety guidelines: The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) has launched a new Safe Sport (http://safesport.org/) initiative, which puts the safety of athletes participating in Olympic, Paralympic sports, and programs front and center. Some key initiatives to support this effort have been implemented by USA Archery, beginning in January 2014, which involve updates to the Code of Conduct, liability efforts and a general safe environment. USA Archery requires membership with everyone who is engaged in activities and programs of USA Archery to ensure that all members participating in USA Archery programs and activities are familiar with and agree to the terms of membership and accept the terms of the Code of Conduct, especially as they relate to Safe Sport initiatives.
JOAD/SOAD
As one of the key USA Archery National Ranking Programs, membership at the youth, adult or family level is now required to earn any rank through the JOAD/SOAD programs.
If your Learn Archery membership is expiring, you will be required to have a USA Archery full membership to renew and receive pins/lanyards.
Join online for either membership level at https://webpoint.usarchery.org/wp/Memberships/Join.wp choose "Learn Archery" as your club affiliation
As a current adult, youth or family member of USA Archery, these changes will not affect students participating in the JOAD/SOAD rank earning programs, registering for tournaments, Camps etc. and that full membership continues to provide liability insurance.
New Students: Mail-in Tournaments, Recreational camps- participant needs minimum “RECREATIONAL” membership ($15)
USA Archery requires a recreational membership ($15) to participate in mail-in tournaments, recreational camps, and, the introductory recreational status ensures the athlete agrees to abide by the Code of Conduct and membership guidelines, also allowing USA Archery to cover the RECREATIONAL status members with insurance policies during their participation at JOAD/SOAD Clubs. A RECREATIONAL membership can be upgraded later to a full membership by adding only the difference in fee, should the student wish to participate in JOAD/SOAD rank earning programs, tournaments, etc. Join online for either membership level at https://webpoint.usarchery.org/wp/Memberships/Join.wp choose "Learn Archery" as your club affiliation
