Archery Class Training:
Equipment assessment - tune in tips, evaluate your equipment and learn how to make adjustments.
Basic FORM training techniques- tune up and training with no equipment
Last week we discussed the importance of form and endurance training, recognizing cycles in training, and how training with variation, blank bale, and rest days, in a "micro cycle" of 10 days can help you improve your game.
Blank bale is useful because your eyes remain closed, and your focus is only on ONE training component. Your focus is removed from the result of the arrows patterns. Other training, stretch band and string band work on off days, along with SPTs can help with focus on form, not results on paper.
A big consideration is also equipment tuning. If you have not checked your brace height, strings, nocks, arrows, alignment, etc., before shooting, that errant arrow may not be form related, but equipment related. We will review several ways to check equipment, some basics for beginners, and more involved methods for intermediate and advanced archers. If you have your own equipment, and have more than 7 arrows bring at least one arrow that has been stripped of it's fletches (a bare shaft).*
*Youth-please have parents assist in removing fletches
